
LIDW25:Class actions and funding – a blessing or a curse?
June 2025As part of London International Disputes Week 25, Caroline joined a panel event on 5th June with Fladgate, 4 Pump Court and BenchWalk Advisors.
Focussing the spotlight on the post PACCAR landscape, the panel looked at the changes affecting the whole legal sector, affecting claimants, defendants alike.
Caroline Goodman, founder & CEO of Institutional Protection said there are “mixed messages” about whether the UK wants to be a hub for class actions and funding.
“I think a fear remains in the back of the UK’s mind that it will somehow become like the US, where the class action floodgates will open. Then, you look at a jurisdiction like the Netherlands which has embraced collective actions and wants to be seen as a centre [for these disputes]. The UK hasn’t really settled on where it is.”
