Management team

Caroline founded Institutional Protection (IP) in 2004. Anticipating that the investor action landscape would internationalise and grow in complexity and participation in investor actions would necessarily become mainstream, her vision was to create a company dedicated to providing institutional investors with the most comprehensive, global service across all investor actions. Caroline has a wealth of experience of the investor action landscape across many jurisdictions and is a regular conference and webcast speaker.

Previously, Caroline worked for the London Stock Exchange as Head of International Business Development, Head of New Business Streams and founder and Head of the Exchange’s Training and Consultancy division. She also sat on the Exchange’s Management Committee. Prior to this, Caroline worked in various market regulation and international market development roles, and for Credit Lyonnais at their Paris headquarters, trading financial futures. She holds a MA from Balliol College, Oxford University.

John has been the Chief Operating Officer of Institutional Protection (IP) since 2012. He is responsible for turning the IP strategy into operational and financial success. He has a breadth of industry experience and knowledge, a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage strategically. John is also the Company Secretary and Data Protection Officer. He was appointed a Board director in 2016.

Prior to joining IP, John worked at a number of companies in the UK, Ireland and the US, ranging from start-ups to those with multi-million turnovers. He has over 20 years’ experience of designing and implementing strategies to bring visible operational benefits to the business without sacrificing quality of service, governance or compliance. John read law at the University of Wales, qualified as a barrister and was called to the bar by Gray’s Inn.

Andrew joined Institutional Protection (IP) in March 2014 as Chief Information Officer. In charge of our IT strategy, he ensures that all of our IT initiatives are aligned with our business goals. Together with his specialist team of developers and engineers, he has overall responsibility for the company’s systems and technical infrastructure. Andrew takes personal ownership of all security policies and procedures with particular emphasis on ensuring our clients’ data is stored, managed and protected to the highest possible standards whilst in our possession. Externally, Andrew regularly liaises with custodians and clients to review and safeguard the integrity of the information held.

Prior to joining IP, Andrew was Group Development Manager and Enterprise Architect at Claranet, one of Europe’s leading independent MSPs (Managed Services Provider). He has worked for Barclays Bank International, NatWest CUI and the Central Bank of Jordan. A computer science graduate, he has experience in a broad range of business sectors, gaining many years’ experience both in the UK and overseas, as a software developer and then as an infrastructure architect before moving into senior management.

Deborah joined IP in 2016 and is Chief Client Services Officer. She is responsible for ensuring our clients receive a consistently excellent level of service across all IP services. Her team are the primary points of contact for IP clients as well as for other key third parties including law firms, litigation funders and other litigation experts.

Deborah has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including Investor Relations, Capital Markets, IPOs, Business Development and Marketing. She worked at the London Stock Exchange for over 10 years in Public Policy and Business Development, latterly being responsible for developing business in India, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa for both the Main Market and AIM. Deborah was also at PLUS Markets Group for over 6 years and prior to joining IP, she worked for a law firm and helped to set up a consultancy business providing investor relations and communications services.

Joanne joined IP in 2017 and is Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer. Joanne is responsible for developing IP’s global growth strategy, expanding the company’s institutional investor client base and developing strategic partnerships. In addition, Joanne directs IP’s marketing and PR strategies and, working together with external design and PR experts, manages the IP brand and communications.

Joanne has over 30 years’ experience of international strategy and business development, marketing and branding across a range of commercial sectors, including financial services, professional services, property, technology, leisure, beauty and pharmaceuticals. Previously she was Head of Global Business Development at the London Stock Exchange for 11 years, where she directed and expanded the LSE’s international business and managed the LSE’s international relations and charitable donations programme. More recently she headed growth in Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Burberry plc. Joanne is fluent in French and German.
