Client Operations Analyst

The Role

Institutional Protection Services Ltd (IPS) is a London-based company that specialises exclusively in managing global shareholder actions from the institutional investor’s perspective. IPS takes responsibility for the entire claims management and restitution process on behalf of our clients, from worldwide monitoring of relevant legal actions through to loss analysis of investment data, submission of documentary evidence of claims and eventual recovery of financial settlement.

As part of its continued expansion, IPS has a full-time position open for a Client Operations Analyst. This is a unique role with a broad remit that provides a vital link between the back-office and our clients. It is challenging and rewarding in equal measure and will suit someone who is keen to bring added value to the business through their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm.

Core Responsibilities

  • Professional liaison with clients, custodians, settlement administrators, law firms, litigation funders, investor rights groups and other relevant parties
  • Guiding clients through the legal restitution process
  • Analysis and collation of information relating to shareholder actions from global data feeds
  • Recognised loss calculations using established LIFO & FIFO methodologies
  • Evaluation and processing of clients’ claims across multiple jurisdictions

Essential Skills

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a legal or commercial discipline, and must be able to demonstrate their previously having used the following core skills in a relevant commercial environment, ideally having experience of securities litigation.

Technical experience

  • Understanding and analysis of investment data
  • Experience of working for, or dealing with custodian banks
  • Strong familiarity with litigation documentation
  • Excellent mathematical skills/highly numerate
  • Advanced spreadsheet user
  • Previous experience of databases in a business environment (as a user)
  • Experience of data analysis tools an advantage

Business acumen

Finance Administrator

The Role

As part of its continued expansion, IPS has a full-time position open for a Finance Administrator. This is a role with a broad remit that provides an integral pivot point in IPS’s back-office operations. It is challenging and rewarding in equal measure and will suit someone who is keen to bring added value to the business through their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm.

Reporting to the COO, the primary focus for this role is looking after the company’s financial operations; accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, vat return and monthly management reports. There is also a client-facing aspect, invoicing for IPS’ services and assisting the client operations team with the claims management process.

Core Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day financials
  • Monthly cashflow and budgets
  • Management reporting
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Primary contact for office procurement
  • Invoice and revenue reconciliation

Essential Skills

Although no formal qualifications are required. the successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience working in the finance department of an SME – ideally in the financial business sector – and must be able to demonstrate their previously having used the following core skills in a relevant commercial environment.

Technical skills

  • Sound knowledge of core accounting principles
  • Experience of using all core Sage applications
  • Understanding and analysis of investment data
  • Strong mathematical skills/ highly numerate
  • Experienced user of word processors and spreadsheets
  • Previous experience of databases in a business environment (as a user)
  • Experience of data analysis tools an advantage

Investment Data Analyst

The Role

As part of its continued expansion, IPS has a full-time position open for an Investment Data Analyst (IDA). This is a role with a broad remit that is integral to the company’s core business offerings. It is challenging and rewarding in equal measure and will suit someone who is keen to bring added value to the business through their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm.

The primary focus of this role is managing the data life-cycle on behalf of our clients. From the very first engagement with clients as part of their on-boarding process, the IDA, working with the CIO and his team, ensures that the data we receive and use is of the requisite quality and in the correct format. The quality of the data is essential to our ability to provide the high level of service we offer. Equally important is compliance and governance: the data we use is commercially sensitive and so needs to be handled with care – data security is paramount and the IDA will be responsible for overseeing how, where and when it is used.

Core Responsibilities

  • Act as reference point, investigate and satisfactorily resolve questions and queries relating to data
  • Identify, analyse and resolve data exceptions and communicate impact of these to affected users in a timely manner
  • Liaise with custodians and settlement administrators, and ensure data is available and correct
  • Build and maintain relationships with key data intermediaries
  • Model data and design business intelligence
  • Ensure compliance with ICO and ISO guidelines using CSI methodologies
  • Regular spot checks on data quality
  • Onboard new clients’ data
  • Analyse existing business procedures with a view to improving quality of service

Essential Skills

Although no formal qualifications are required, the successful candidate should demonstrate:
